1. Important notices

  • As of the June 5th the border checks at the land border between the Czech Republic and Austria and between the Czech Republic and Germany are abolished and these borders can be crossed at any point again. However, the police will carry out spot-checks aimed at compliance with the Ministry of Health Protective measure. At the air border, the temporary reintroduction of internal border control is being prolonged until 30th June 23:59. Passengers can now use all airports for flights within Schengen.

    Czech, Slovak, Austrian, German and Hungarian citizens with residency in these countries, EU citizens residing in these countries and citizens of other countries with the granted status of long-term resident in these countries can enter the Czech Republic without necessity to prove the purpose of their travel and without necessity of submitting a medical certificate. This applies only to travel among these countries, including air transport.

    Czech citizens, EU citizens residing in CZE and citizens of other countries with the granted status of long-term resident in CZE have to fulfil the conditions of the Germany while entering the country. More info https://www.mzv.cz/berlin
     

  • Ministry of Health approved new Protective measure against SARS-CoV-2. From the May 27th it is possible to enter the Czech Republic (via Czech-Slovak land border) for 48 hours without submitting a medical certificate on SARS-CoV-2 PCR testing results or undergo a quarantine. Same exception is applied for entering Slovakia and Hungary. This only applies for citizens of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, EU citizens with temporary or permanent residence in these countries and third-country nationals with the status of a long-term European Community resident in these countries. Compliance with the rules is checked by Slovakia. During the border control, persons have to submit a confirmation that can be found on the website of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic.

  • From the May 26th, 2020 it is possible to cross the land borders with Germany and Austria at all railway crossings, all main road crossings and the Hřensko river crossing. The list of the open border-crossing points you can find here. In addition, the checks at the common borders with Germany, Austria will be executed in a targeted and flexible manner.
    Minister of Health approved new Protective measure against SARS-CoV-2 that allows EU citizens (or third-country nationals with the status of a long-term European Community resident) who have a provable family relation (including a lasting relationship) with a person living in the Czech Republic, to enter the territory of the Czech Republic.

2. Entry into the territory of the Czech Republic

The rules for entering the territory of the Czech Republic and quarantine measures are defined by the Ministry of Health (pdf, 133 kB). Information regarding entry to other countries is the responsibility of the embassies in the countries of destination and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Quarantine measures and RT-PCR test conditions are the responsibility of the Ministry of Health.

The activities of diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic are gradually resumed. Depending on the epidemiological situation, the conditions for entry into the Czech Republic will also be gradually relaxed. Individual exemption requests will not be answered, Ministry of the Interior does not grant any individual exemptions for entry into the territory of the Czech Republic.
