1. Important notices

  • On 26 November 2021, with regard to the possible risks associated with the new coronavirus variant, the Government of the Czech Republic decided on a crisis measure by which Czech citizens and foreigners residing in the Czech Republic are strongly not recommended to travel to Republic of South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique. The measure also prohibits the entry of all third-country nationals who have stayed for more than 12 hours in the last 14 days in the territory of one of the above-mentioned countries. The exception is given only to holders of a valid residence permit over 90 days in the territory of the Czech Republic issued by the Czech Republic. The conditions for their entry are listed in the attached leaflet:

  • As of 22 November only holders of vaccination certificates and certificates of recovery are considered as a low-risk group as regards covid-19 for free access to majority of services, such as hotels or restaurants.

This change will not affect the rules for entering the Czech Republic. It will be still possible to enter the country after submitting negative PCR test (in some cases antigen test) result (as an alternative to vaccination or recovery certificate). However, this negative test result will not be accepted to access services, such as accommodation, restaurants, hairdressers, cosmetics (and other), indoor sporting or organised public events. You can find more information here (pdf, 322 kB).

  • As of 27 October 2021, the Ministry of Health updated the Protective Measure regarding the conditions of entry into the Czech Republic. Changes include relaxing measures for arrivals of children in the age group 0-12 years for which no epidemiologic measures are further applied. Also, for arrivals from the countries with a high and a very high risk of COVID-19 transmission, the obligation of self-isolation after entering the territory until receiving a negative result of a test was lifted (in case the exception from testing is not applied). However, it is necessary to wear a FFP2 respirator or its equivalent for the respective period.
