Filing an Application for a Long-stay Visa for the Purpose of Seasonal Work

An application for a long-stay visa for the purpose of seasonal work must be filed in person at a locally competent embassy of the Czech Republic (in justified cases, the foreign national may ask the embassy for being exempted from the duty to submit the application in person). The foreign national may submit the application solely at the embassy of the Czech Republic in the state where he/she is a citizen, or in the state that has issued a travel document held by the foreign national or in the state where the foreign national has a long-stay or permanent residence permit. The fulfilment of this condition is not required if it is a foreign national who is the citizen of a state given in the list of states whose nationals may submit an application for a long-stay visa or a long-stay or permanent residence permit at any embassy of the Czech Republic (Regulation No. 429/2010 Coll.).

The application for a long-stay visa for the purpose of seasonal work is submitted on the form named "Application for Visa for Stays Exceeding 90 Days".

The following documents are submitted together with the application for a long-stay visa for the purpose of seasonal work:

  • a travel document;

  • 1 photographs corresponding to the foreign national's current appearance;

  • an employment permit pursuant to Section 96(1) of the Employment Act; or the foreign national must provide a reference number of the application for this permit and at which regional branch of the Labour Office of the Czech Republic or its branch for the City of Prague the application for this permit has been filed;

  • a document on accommodation during the stay in the territory for this visa (if the accommodation is ensured or arranged by an employer, the document on accommodation must show that the statutory conditions set out for accommodation have been fulfilled, in particular the size of the floor area of a room and the number of accommodated persons, as well as the amount of payment, or the information that accommodation is provided free of charge; in such event, the amount of the payment for accommodation cannot be excessive compared to the agreed amount of the foreign national's wage, pay or remuneration and the level of accommodation.) (template of the statement on provided accommodation);

  • employer's certificate regarding the agreed amount of wage, pay or remuneration, if the accommodation of the foreign national is ensured or arranged by the employer;

  • upon request, proof similar to a copy of an entry in the Criminal Records Register;

  • upon request, proof certifying the fulfilment of the requirements related to the measures against the introduction of an infectious disease.

All submitted documents must be either in original or officially certified copies. The travel document must always be submitted in original. All documents submitted in a foreign language must be in original and with an officially certified translation into the Czech language. The required documents to be submitted with the application cannot be older than 180 days, except for the foreign national's travel document and photograph if it corresponds to his/her true and actual appearance.

Moreover, before the long-stay visa for the purpose of seasonal work is affixed, the foreign national is required to submit proof of possession of travel medical insurance and, upon request, also proof certifying that the premiums have been paid. The foreign national does not submit this document to the Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of the Interior, but to the embassy, and it should certify only insurance for the period from the entry in the territory of the Czech Republic until the public health insurance pursuant to the Act on Public Health Insurance applies to the foreign national, i.e. basically from the date on which the visa is affixed until the date of commencement of employment (which is specified in the submitted documents).
