The duties of foreign nationals

Non-EU citizens are particularly required to report changes inthe following within 3 working days:

  1. name / surname

  2. marital status (marriage, divorce, widow/er/hood)

  3. information in your travel document/identity document including its replacement

  4. information in documents issued pursuant to the Act on the Residence of Foreign Nationals (e.g. in your residence permit)
     

You are required to report a change in the place of residence within 30 working days:

  1. if you are the holder of a long-term visa or a long-term residence permit, then this duty only applies in the event that this change in place of residence will last for over 30 days.

  2. if you are the holder of a permanent residence permit, then this duty only applies in the event that such a change in the place of residence lasts for longer than 180 days.
     

Foreign national is also required:

  • to hand in the document issued pursuant to the Act on the Residency of Foreign Nationals 3 days before ending residency in the Czech Republic at the latest, with the exception of visa and travel identity documents, if these were issued for the purpose of travelling out of the country; foreign national are required to hand the document in to the authority who issued it,

  • to report loss, destruction, damage or theft of documents within 3 days from the date of the occurence of the event; if this event occurs in this country, the foreign national reports it to the authority who issued this document, if this event occurs outside this country, the foreign national reports it to the Czech embassy; the foreign national is similarly required to report that he/she found or acquired a document that was previously reported lost or stolen,

  • to immediately report loss or theft of travel documents to the police,

  • if the legal representative of a foreign national, who was born in the territory of the Czech Republic is a resident on the basis of a long-term visa, long-term residence permit or permanent residence permit, he / she is required to fill an application on behalf of the newly born foreign national for the issue of the same type of residence permit within 60 days from the date of birth,

  • to esure fulfillment of the obligations under this Act concerning the foreign national under 15 years whose legal representative this particular foreign national is, who actually cares of this young foreign national or who had been entrusted with a supervision of young foreign national for the whole period of remaining on the territory; and moreover to ensure that the foreign national under 15 years whose legal representative this particular foreign national is, who actually cares of this young foreign national or who had been entrusted with a supervision of young foreign national for the whole period of remaining on the territory, had the authorisation to reside on the territory.
