Temporary reintroduction of border control at internal borders of the Czech Republic

Following the positive epidemiological situation in the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany, and with regard to mutual coordination with other EU / Schengen Member States, the Government decided on June 5th, 2020 to amend and prolong the temporary reintroduction of internal border control.

With effect from June 5th, 2020 12:00, checks at the land borders with Austria and Germany will be abolished and these borders can be crossed at any point again. However, passengers must reckon with the fact that the police will carry out spot-checks at the border with both states in the exercise of their powers in the Czech Republic.

At the air border, the temporary reintroduction of internal border control is being prolonged until June 30th, 2020 23:59. Passengers can now use all airports for flights within Schengen. The Police of the Czech Republic will carry out checks on internal flights in a flexible manner commensurate with the current threat, depending on the development of the situation. These checks will focus in particular on compliance with restrictions on the cross-border movement of persons set by the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of the Interior kindly asks the traveling public for understanding and helpfulness during an eventual inspection.
